Sometimes, to the point that I feel disgusted.
Disgusted that I'm living such a virtual life, and being enslaved to such lifeless objects.
My iPad doesn't make me happy.
My S3 doesn't make me smile.
Except when I first laid my hands on them perhaps.
Interaction with humans makes me happy.
Getting out and doing things in the real world keeps me engaged and buzzing.
And Facebook is the Internet beast that is consuming me alive, bit by bit.
So I asked myself,
"When do I use Facebook?"
Usually when i'm bored or when I have things to share.
"Does Facebook help resolve those issues?"
Yes, it does keep me entertained when im bored. But the truth is, I never use Facebook when I'm doing something engaging.
Facebook has always been a superficial remedy. It didn't change my life for the better, and it most likely won't in the future.
So how was life like before Facebook?
I figure I will find out very soon, because I deactivated my FB account this morning.
It wasn't hard, in spite of one sly last-ditch attempt by the Beast to keep me from leaving.
Wanna leave? See if you will succumb to my emotional blackmail! |
Picture above isn't a screenshot of my own FB account, just to show you how it looks like.
So FB took pictures of 4 random friends (really random because they aren't even the friends I interact with the most) and declared that they will miss me if I leave.
Really?
Ok I hope they will text me or call me when they realize i'm gone!
That beats having an extra "Like" on my statuses or posts anytime.
So, I clicked on the Confirm button, and typed in my password.
It was a gratifying feeling.
=)
