When Big Daddy is everywhere

Have you ever wondered whether we're all living in a world of manipulation, lies and endless facades?

What defines news in the papers everyday? Who aggregates all the events? Who are the sources and origins?

I've thought of this before, but never really bothered enough to write it out. Okay it's 1am now and i just told my friend i'll be turning in, but here i am blogging with my mobile.

Because we're living in the fiercely regulated and bureaucratic Singapore, i'm pretty sure the concept of Big Daddy couldnt be more true here.

I wonder what kind of news we will get if there is no authoritative control, or at least if the grip is loosened.

Recently, I just read about one of our CDCs receiving generous bonuses, and that was hotly debated on many local forums.

So, being the efficient watchdog, that topic was clamped down in no time at all, and all relevant posts were deleted. Talk about democracy.. Last i checked, that word was in our national pledge.

So, I'm left wondering that the news we read, is really the news that the government wants us to read. Everything has been passed through the filter, and we're drip fed with only the good things. No wonder we came up with the desalination process for Newater!

Okay my view could be myopic, but that's just what i think. Alright, im tired of typing on this tiny keypad.

Off to bed.
