Macbook

The boss just got a Macbook Pro a few days back and it really looks cool. Come to think of it, I have never used a Mac before in my entire life and maybe its about time too. Have been wanting to get a laptop and I might just get a Macbook. Last I checked, it costs around 1.8K - 2K.

Anyone has had bad or good experience with that? Might not matter much, because I think I'm already leaning too much towards that to be swayed again. Haha.

Anyway, I'm finally going to start touching on something novel on the job after close to 7 months. All the while, I have been managing Google Adwords accounts and managing more Google Adwords accounts. And of course, the inevitable task that the boss sets you out to do.

Now, I'm gonna have to start writing articles too. Writing website content, articles for a corporate blog, and probably a lot of other stuff that would bring about web traffic. Actually, its just as well that I get to do this. I was thinking of doing it on my own anyway. Perfect opportunity for me to get exposure and not be accused of moonlighting! I have always had interest in that, so everything just falls in place nicely. My only concern is that I will be bogged down by all the potential workload going forward. Well, at least exciting times(staying hopeful) novelty lies ahead!

hey i've been a apple support since 4 years back. using a macbook now. it's great esp with the new leopard OS. never had a problem with it. and if u can't bear to say goodbye to windows, u can always install windows on ur macbook (though it defeats the mac altogether) just my 2 cents :)

To angie: You're referring to the Boot Camp right? Yeah defeats the purpose I agree. Okay maybe you can welcome someone new to the apple family soon. Haha. Is it any cheaper to get it online?

u should wait for uni matriculation fairs. not sure if SIM has, but i'm sure NTU and NUS have good mac offers. they throw in free stuff like ipod shuffles, free microsoft office, etc. so maybe can get ur friends to buy for u then. i'll be out of sch by then. haha.

dun think getting from school make it any much cheaper though or might be more ex...... my 1 cents worth... ppl always think get from sch cheaper.. the -.-!!
http://www.ntu.edu.sg/cits2/computerdeals/NB_Detail.asp?sn=7
anyway, the freaking "sch offer" is like aug leh, if really have and sometimes don't think they have booth loh.. u go see IT fair, but dunno got or not.. but online got education discount also... http://store.apple.com/Catalog/Singapore/Images/tcSGedu.htm?aosid=p202&cid=AOS-AP-SG-GOOGLE-AA50000080767&esvt=GOSGE&esvadt=999999-1178839-1052669-1&esvid=101815
but when you get a macbook, you can get other apple stuffs(ipod etc) for a much cheaper price...

ur friend is an apple support? i need to really COMPLAINT about apple k...

no laptop/desktop/products are good.. their point of view are always trying to earn $$, okie next upgrade coming soon...

and you can never really say bye to windows or mac because they will be something that wins cant run and mac cant run... i am using both...

like surfing the net, some websites cant really show correctly in safari, then firefox mac also cant. then i need to open my IE to view..

for virus, even mac has less virus there's always virus...

the reality is both are bad and good.. but wats ur usage in long term? i am sure in long term u dont jus use it for entertainment right? make the laptop useful...

to my mac and pc:
even though i complain so much, u both r still useful... pls dun failed me on my assignment k.. haha

heya. i got my prev iBook from apple website cos the offer looked attractive, i had a free ipod mini that time. however my iBook crashed and the apple store couldn't do anything cos i wasn't covered under the 3 year warranty which costs abt $350. the warranty from online sale is normally 1 year. imagine the agony cos my ibook died in its 14th month. i got my macBook from NUS and i'm covered for up to 3 years for free. should anything happen, i can just send it to any apple store and have them repair it. so it's really an advantage getting from the schools, speaking from experience :) and fyi, i dun work for the co-op so i'm not soliciting. haha.

yes yes yes, i agree with angie about the warranty... getting a macbook is impt for the warranty.. is really impt... i went to service also... erm, that also means the macbook eh not v good hoh.. haha easily go service.. haha... shld get from sch definately for the warranty .. i remember calling them is not free when ur warranty is limted... u had to pay for every call -.-!!.. what the right.. thats irritating part though...

another one of the irritating part is the dvd region... and the battery but at least they do something for the battery, they allow u to change...

get a macbook if u got a desktop(wins at home).. but be prepare that when ur pc friend pass u soem documents or program it might not run in mac so u can use ur pc to open when u reach home...

if u wan to use program that use mac os.. buy a mac... i need fcp so i definately will get a mac... fcp only run in mac.. chck out no need to rush.. because see the price i get last time can get better specs.. so take ur tiem n think clearly, research... research... if u get white remember to protect it.. mine is grey now.. haha.. mr grey mac...

And I missed out on the IT Show altogether because of what happened.

So it's gonna be a wait for another 3 months or I get it online..
Well, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. =)

Well, like I said, I love Mac the way it is. It's way better than Windows in my opinion.

You don't have to use left hand for a mouse, just use the trackpad, or buy extendable mouse.

Even if it turns grey, you can make it brite white. (there's a way!) Heh.

Using Mac for the third year, it crashesdue to overwork but never tio virus or anything.

When docs can't be read, you just need the right application.

Buy from school for a package, unless outside they helped you pre-install everything already. :D

On a final note, at least the boss gave you things to do ok! I wished he can give me some articles to write or something, or you can give me some work to do! Pretty please!

by the way, what's the difference between tioing a virus and crashes... this is so ===> -.-!!!

be realistic, even with the right software u dun work perfectly with certain stuffs... i have Microsoft excel, and the codes sometimes dun work in microsoft excel in mac.. some function in microsoft ppt in mac is different from pc, so on and so for...

get a mac, becos if apple dies where can i complain, haha.. but their cust service not v good hoh...
i cant complain about pc because u know why la haha...

Use cif, and use the sponge and lightly clean it. Don't touch the screen though, it damages it. For screen, just use water and cloth/kitchen roll to wipe. Bright like new. :)

Eh, tio-ing virus is like major problem that your laptop can't function. When it crashes, it just means the laptop temporarily cannot handle so many applications etc.

True, but that's maybe coz' I don't use excel. Mac and Windows pretty different leh, and on Mac people use Keynotes, and there are applications that's designed for Mac!

Pc also got warranty what, no?
Ah..ya, Mac services sucks, especially Diversitec(one supplier that handles Mac).

Mac wins pants down lor! :D

thanks for the tips on cleaning macbook...

for the difference of virus and crashing i dun literally mean what's the difference... u know...

Virus: Leaves your Windows in a vulnerable state, either not able to set up at all, or just simply died. It hacks into things you're working on, and might even delete everything damn thing. Repair is REQUIRED.

Crash: Temporarily your laptop is dysfunctional. However, after you let your laptop rest and restart it, documents may be saved partially and the laptop resumes its post as your best friend. :)

chua said...

eh... i really dun need that explanation, anyway thanks... i know whats a virus and a mac/pc crash...

and about crashes there's different degree of crashes... sometimes, crashes doesnt mean "Temporarily your laptop is dysfunctional", and i know of a virus that is a artwork.. so i think there's no "difference" as both can be as deadly...

example:
for crashes: i had edit my video and it suddenly crashes, i will 2#$@#$%#$% and not knowing what if my mac/pc can restart(sometimes they dun and had to go for service, and my deadline is tmw, duh) and luckily it restart, not knowing hw many percent is still there(even 1 % cent is missing, it makes a big difference)... it is as deadly as virus.

now everyone knows hw virus can screw up things, i shall not elaborate a situation..

so in the pov(point of view) concerning about my work, i think both has no difference, as both are as deadly...
